Our tropical winter at Kewarra Aged Care

At Kewarra Aged Care the typical idea of winter doesn’t quite exist due to the year-round tropical weather.

For Cairns locals, 20 degrees warrants a jacket, although others may be caught wearing jeans too, but usually not for long. During the winter months, maximum temperatures at Kewarra Beach hover around the mid-twenties with many lovely sunny days for residents to enjoy. This time of year is perfect for exploring the greater Cairns region from the coast and seas to remote areas and our residents love spending time outdoors whenever they can.

The herb gardens are blossoming with plenty of herbs to be picked to add to our fresh homemade bread. With a variety of fresh fruits available, the wonderful chef at Kewarra, Carsten, prepares delicious spreads for residents to enjoy on a weekly basis. With the humidity slightly dropping, it’s also the perfect time to light up the BBQ and enjoy lunch on the outdoor veranda. Sometimes residents enjoy a cheeky cocktail too!

Far north Queensland provides a wonderful climate to be able to enjoy the outdoors at this time of year. Residents love to participate in Tai Chi on the veranda to start the day and the gardens are the perfect place to enjoy freshly made smoothies or stretch out with a book beside our beautifully designed gardens.

There aren’t many places in the world where winter is synonymous with beach days. An outing to Yorkeys Knob Boating Club allows residents to soak up the stunning weather and enjoy refreshments on the deck overlooking the marina. All while listening to the kookaburras laugh and giggle.

With all these wonderful things on offer, there’s no better place to be this winter than Kewarra Aged Care.
