Spring Newsletter 2025: Kewarra Aged Care Season Highlights
The Spring Newsletter 2025 Kewarra Aged Care edition, The Kewarra Kaleidoscope, captures a season brimming with activity, laughter, and heartfelt community moments. Residents at Kewarra Aged Care in Kewarra Beach, Cairns, embraced the warmer months with energy and enthusiasm. From morning exercise sessions and community shopping adventures to Halloween festivities and a moving Remembrance Day ceremony, here are the highlights from a memorable spring.
Getting Active Together
Spring kicked off with a renewed focus on health and wellbeing, with lifestyle team member Kelly leading daily morning warm-up sessions throughout the season. Far more than just exercise, these gatherings became a cherished part of the daily routine — a chance to stretch, share a laugh, and start the day in good spirits. Kelly's ability to make every participant feel capable and included, regardless of mobility, quickly made these sessions a firm community favourite. As Facility Manager Laura noted, hearing laughter echo through the halls first thing in the morning is a reminder of what makes Kewarra so special.
Out and About: Shopping Adventures with Lisa and Keelie
October brought a series of eagerly anticipated shopping outings, with lifestyle coordinators Lisa and Keelie accompanying residents into the community to browse the shops, try on clothes, and treat themselves to something new. The before-and-after photos captured far more than new outfits — they reflected the confidence and sense of independence that comes from choosing your own style and getting out into the world. These outings are a meaningful reminder of how community connection and personal choice contribute to residents' overall wellbeing.
Halloween: Spooks, Costumes and Plenty of Laughs
Halloween at Kewarra was an all-in affair. Residents and staff went all out with decorations and costumes, transforming the home into something genuinely spooky. The creativity on display was remarkable, with some costumes convincing enough to give even the bravest a proper fright. The laughter, the theatrics, and the sheer fun of the occasion made it one of the most talked-about events of the season — and the photos and videos captured every memorable moment.
Melbourne Cup Day: Living in the Moment
November's Melbourne Cup celebrations turned Kewarra into a buzzing race day venue. Residents threw themselves into picking horses, placing sweepstake bets, and cheering on their favourites with gusto. The energy was so infectious that taking photos became an afterthought — and as Lifestyle Coordinator Lisa noted, that's a sure sign the day was done right. The collective anticipation, groans, and cheers told the story far better than any camera could.
Honouring Those Who Served: Remembrance Day 2025
Later in November, the community paused to observe Remembrance Day in a ceremony made especially meaningful by the attendance of Able Seaman Nathan Graham. His presence brought a personal and deeply felt connection to the proceedings, as residents gathered in quiet reflection to honour those who served. These moments of shared remembrance are as central to life at Kewarra as any celebration — a reminder of the values, history, and respect that bind the community together.
Puppy Therapy and Fancy Morning Teas
Throughout spring, one combination proved unbeatable: therapy puppies paired with a beautifully presented morning tea. Residents dressed up, enjoyed delicious treats, and settled in for cuddles with some very affectionate therapy pups. The warmth and comfort of these sessions — both the four-legged and the freshly brewed variety — became a highlight that residents and staff looked forward to equally throughout the season.
Looking Ahead to Summer
The Spring Newsletter 2025 Kewarra Aged Care community looks ahead to summer with excitement. The team is looking forward to more outdoor activities, more sunshine, and more of the shared moments that make this community so special. Spring 2025 has shown just how much life, laughter, and genuine connection there is at the heart of Kewarra — and summer promises even more.
