Friday 2 June was World Italian Day, and while traditionally the day is to commemorate the institutional referendum post the second world war, many people round the globe take the opportunity to celebrate the wonderful food and culture of this much-loved country.
Kewarra Aged Care celebrated the day by opening their doors to a perfect Far North Queensland blue sky, and the warm sun which was beaming through the main hub as the Italian feast began.
Residents enjoyed delicious antipasto platters put together by Chef, Carsten, as well as some special Italian wine while listening to some classic Italian tunes for a fun and relaxing afternoon. ‘I love antipasto platters,’ said Kewarra Aged Care resident, Margaret. ‘It reminds me of my days on the veranda with my husband, what a lovely memory.’
It was the perfect day for residents to reminisce on their previous travels to Italy and be able to share their story with others. ‘Thank you, Nicky [Lifestyle Coordinator] for bringing a little bit of Italy to my home,’ said resident, Lucia.
